Aquaponics

Piedmont Center for Sustainability will develop and build several aquaponics systems that combine a fishery with an agricultural growing system. The largest scale aquaponics system (1-2 acres) will sustainably support large volumes of fish and vegetables (estimated 1-2 million lbs/year). We will also operate, build and sell small scale aquaponics systems suitable for backyard use. All of these systems can be used together to grow fish, as well as produce, for sale, and also to educate visitors to the Center how to set up and maintain a home aquaponics system.
